AAWAAZ

Funded by the Coady Institute and the Pathy Family Foundation, we developed and implemented Aawaaz for 290 students and 325 educators across four different provinces in Pakistan, working with schools, volunteer institutions, universities, NGOs and more.

About Aawaaz

Aawaaz (meaning sound or voice in Urdu) worked with 255+ youth and 325+ educators and parents across 4 cities in Pakistan. Funded by the Coady Institute and the Pathy Family Foundation, the Aawaaz initative delivered mental health education through the arts, employing visual and performance arts - as well as game-based learning to students, teachers and parents.
Through workshops ranging from one month to one day, Aawaaz's customizable model meant that we were able to work with remote mountainous communities in Gilgit-Baltistan, leading universities in Karachi, and slum-based shed schools in Islamabad.

Aawaaz delivered workshops for a wide range of institutions, including:

  • The Aga Khan University

  • Kiran Foundation

  • The Right to Play

  • Pehli Kiran Schools

  • Durbeen

  • Nasir Khisraw Model Academy

  • Alyabad Community-Based School

  • Ismaili Tariqah and Religious Education Board

  • Aga Khan Youth and Sports Board

As part of Aawaaz, a curriculum of mental health activities was also developed for classroom teachers.
